I know the show has problems, but I have to say that I saw it on Broadway at a preview---before the critics let everyone know they should despise it---and I found many things to enjoy as well. It was, for me, the first time seeing Kevin Anderson and Cleavant Derricks on stage and that was a treat. It was also my introduction to Karen Olivo, who played Brooklyn's mom. And Ramona Keller brought the house down with her rendition of The Raven. A song I still listen to often. It also had some fun and clever costumes made from "found items".
Overall, I understand why it didn't catch on, but it was an evening I look back on fondly.
