Since it's all subjective, pointing to other sources of opinion establishes nothing except that there are other opinions. I love Sutton, but missed this production. She certainly isn't traditional casting for the part, in no small part because she reads so youthful. That is something more than a few people have commented on. In fact, that is the same reason I don't care for the film of Hello, Dolly! I just can't buy youthful Barbra re-emerging from her long grief to embrace the world again.
I had divergent opinions on Bernadette being cast against type in AGYG and Gypsy. She worked hard in Annie, but I didn't buy it for a second. In fairness I thought that production was 100 ways misconceived. In Gypsy I thought it worked well.
