New Bill Seeks To Shake Up Broadway Ticketing Business

Wow this is shocking news. Maybe not to others, but I don't recall hearing or reading anything about this change in ticketing policy being considered. I do recall plenty of talk about the theatre industry trying to deter scalpers, but did not see this coming.

I am all for Broadway being affordable, and most of us know there are always some lower price points that producers make available. But on the other hand I am also for the shows making as much money as supply and demand dictates, especially when people will pay those same prices to scalpers where the creators and producers don't share in the profit. Are other industries subject to this sort of cap? Airlines? I don't think so.

I do like the part that calls for transparency about additional fees and charges.

I don't know enough about the landscape to know the impact of sellers no longer being able to use only one ticket purchase system. But it seems overreaching just as a knee jerk reaction.

Curious what others think/know.
