| Thirty years ago this December, when my now-husband and I were still dating and living elsewhere, we came to NYC for the first time together and stayed at the Algonquin (a longtime favorite of mine). When we got to our room, we realized they upgraded us to a suite—specifically, the Al Hirschfeld Suite. Couldn't have been more perfect. Then it was off to Sign of the Dove for dinner, followed by Grand Hotel. But the Algonquin will always be our real grand hotel. |
