| Well, let me put in some good word of mouth anyway. I saw it today and enjoyed it far more than I liked the stage production. An attractive and talented cast. A great respect for Hollywood movie musical traditions. A bright, eye-popping look and some gorgeous cinematography and art direction. And themes that both address and transcend a particular race or ethnicity ... the struggle between leaving home and staying there. I am very glad I saw this on a big screen and in a theater and it helped me to realize how much I missed by steaming last year's Oscar contenders at home. I really wish this movie well. I hope 'Hamilton' gets a shot at a big screen screening at some point, perhaps decades from now when the stage run ends. |
