| Unfortunately, I think that the underperformance of In the Heights means that similar films won't get made by major studios. Even though The Sound of Music live with Carrie Underwood was a very underwhelming viewing experience, its phenomenal ratings led to a bunch of other live musicals. Crazy Rich Asians hasn't resulted in a spate of Asian-centered films, but two sequels were greenlighted and supposed to have been filmed back-to-back in 2020. I don't know what their current status is. |
