Ramos seems like a really nice guy. I thought he gave a fine performance as Usnavi.

What really enrages me is that a TV journalist like Victor Blackwell on CNN last Monday afternoon goes into a rant about the colorism issue, remarking that Miranda was racially insensitive and out of touch with the Latino community and that he and Chu were irresponsible in casting the film.

It was apparent the way Blackwell was speaking that he knew nothing about the stage version of In the Heights, and I seriously doubt that he had even seen the film. He was just repeating the story and and being judgmental about something about which he had no true understanding. Alisyn Camerota, his co-anchor, tried to defend Miranda, but she couldn't get a word in. You could see that she disagreed with Blackwell's tone and finally told him that there's another side to the argument. However, the segment ended and they had to move on to another topic.

I'm not trying to minimize the issue, but if Blackwell was interested in dealing with it in a fair and even handed manner, he should have arranged for an interview with Miranda and Chu and let them answer for their decisions and express their apologies. Blackwell even snidely scoffed at their apologies as being too little too late. What a jerk! Just IMO.
