| I loved the film. But the theater I went to only had 2 other couples. So I polled the audience (asked my friends) and the overwhelming reason that my friends haven't gone is that they are not comfortable going to a theater yet. Covid feels too recent and, as older people (40s and 50s), they feel the risk is too high, even while being vaccinated. But if you look at the movies that are making money in theaters....Conjuring, Quiet Place 2, King Kong v. Godilla....they are films that appeal to younger people who don't seem to worry as much about Covid. Horror and suspense. The timing is just unfortunate for In The Heights. I hope they reopen in theaters around awards time. |
