Olga San Juan opened some doors for Latin performers before Rita Moreno and Chita Rivera

She starred on Broadway in "Paint Your Wagon" and appeared in quite few Hollywood musicals, in films with such stars as Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Donald O'Connor. The rather strange thing about "Paint Your Wagon" is that she is cast as the white ingenue having a secret love affair with Mexican Julio. She did some appearances which also highlighted Latinx music as well. She had a really fine voice, especially as a belter on the OCR and deserves some re-discovery. She retired after she married Oscar-winner Edmond O'Brien.
