I was hoping for more archival footage too. One clip that was particularly frustrating was when they made the pre-show announcement at Hello Dolly that the show was being recorded, and then didn't show anything from Hello Dolly!
One thing that really came through was how important the library has been for so many artists. I also enjoyed the tribute to George C. Wolfe and some of his poignant quotes.
And while it would have been nice to see more original performances, many of the contemporary singers were quite good and included a lot of people of color. |
