I did mention that Saviola played Emma Goldman in Toronto. I mentioned that Stokes Mitchell, Mazzie, Friedman, McDonald, Jacoby, Sutcliffe, Corti and Perry were all in the Toronto cast and the opening Broadway cast. I intentionally did not go into any more detail about Saviola not being in the Broadway cast.

When the production opened in Toronto, Paul Franklin Dano played The Little Boy. Uranowitz seems to have taken fairly soon into the run.

Are you thinking of The Little Boy as a lead? If so, I would also think that Booker T. Washington would be considered a lead. The Toronto actor, Richard Allen, did not go to Broadway with the show.

Judy Kaye has talked about how Garth Drabinsky told her that she would be playing Emma Goldman in the Toronto production. Then he had to call her and tell her that he had been overruled by the creative team. Then on opening night in Los Angeles, Marty Bell told her that they wanted her to play it on Broadway.

Kaye and Saviola later played Hortense and The Leader, respectively, in the Los Angeles Reprise! production of Zorba in 2006. As far as I can tell from what I have seen on Facebook, if there ever were any hard feelings, they are long gone. Not that you suggested that there were hard feelings. But people might expect that there might have been, so I thought I should mention that they have since worked together, and they are Facebook friends, and I have seen them say appreciative things to each other.
