| It took me a little bit of time as well. I think it's because the clue has a lot of elements and the emphasis seems to be on "diagonally," which means nothing if you've never been to Manhattan. I think if it had been written as, "In 1880, bright new lighting installed on this famous Manhattan thoroughfare led to the creation of this famous three-word nickname," the emphasis is more on the lighting, and I think the contestants would have had more of a fighting chance. |
