I'm not sure that we should be using any language which suggests any sort of violence against a woman, even metaphorically (tossing out to sea in a bottle). And I don't think a person should use an accent to send up and parody another person as the unquestionably talented Ms Benanti does. Also, I recall that a point in the women's movement was that wives should not be automatically judged by the actions or attitudes of their husbands. In general, rather than fight fire with fire, I've always found it better to fight fire with water, the water of peace and respect.
