| I can definitely see this show happening and even being at least moderately successful. There are a lot of people who still believe in his innocence and others who are willing to reserve judgment. Michael Jackson’s music remains, to this very day, a staple of R-n-B radio. I am a regular listener of WBLS in NYC. They play Michael’s music all the time. I heard several Jackson hits yesterday, in fact, during two short car rides. Also, I’ve watched DJ D’Nice on Instagram Live, whenever he plays a Michael Jackson song, the audience invariably erupts with a slew of hearts and love for MJ. I know that’s not a popular sentiment here on ATC, but it is out there. There may be more good will for Michael and this show them many here anticipate. Of course, the quality of the book, the performances, and the staging will make or break this show. I don’t think Christopher Wheeldon is the best choreographer for this project. But that’s another story. Let’s see what happens. |
