| Stuart Damon, veteran of Broadway and of television, has passed away at the age of 84 after an ongoing bout with renal failure. Damon's Broadway career began in 1959, when he appeared in the singing ensemble of "First Impressions" (the "Pride and Prejudice" musical). Subsequently, he had roles in "Irma La Douce," and co-starred as Eddie Yaeger in the 1965 Richard Rodgers/Stephen Sondheim show, "Do I Hear A Waltz?" In 1963, he appeared in the off-Broadway revival of Rodgers and Hart's "The Boys From Syracuse," in a cast that featured the likes of Clifford David, Danny Carroll, Karen Morrow, Ellen Hanley, Cathryn Damon, and Julienne Marie (who, coincidentally, played Damon's wife in "Do I Hear A Waltz?" In 1965, he appeared as the Prince in the television remake of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella," that starred Lesley Ann Warren. He traveled to London in 1966 to star in the "Man of Magic" Houdini musical. For thirty years, he portrayed Alan Quartermaine on the ABC soap opera, "General Hospital." Condolences to his widow, Deirdre Ottewill, his two children, and to all of his extended family, friends, and fans. |
