A couple of things from that article:
- the article says that there will be a month of rehearsal to get things back up to speed, but also "longer workshops for new cast members." Were these workshops a standard thing pre-COVID? Under normal circumstances, how much additional training would a replacement for the role of Alexander Hamilton get, for example, beyond a session or two with someone and a put-in rehearsal? Is the workshop only because there are too many new cast members at once to do the usual?
- I found it interesting that Hamilton had to pay $784,000 for rent for the empty theater. I imagine that amount was negotiated on a case-by-case basis, but if that's typical, shows like Diana and Girl from the North Country that were struggling pre-pandemic are in the hole even more now. I assume The Minutes and Sing Street gave up their theater. |
