When he was announced for Pajama Game, I thought "he won't be able to sing it properly!" But I saw him, I realized that casting his type made MORE sense than a legit Broadway voice like John Raitt. While I love the big, legit vocals, that character would probably have been listening to Sinatra on the radio. It just seems logical that he sang that way...
Although the piano solo in Hernando's Hideaway could have been dropped (and I suppose was when Connick was out.) |
