| I mean Little Orphan Annie started off as a impecunious character, which she played years ago. The woman character in "Prisoner of 2nd Avenue" lives in a middle-class apartment. Ok, she's not a fashion plate. Of course, it's possible Parker wants to play characters who can afford to rent out a suite at the Plaza Hotel so she can wear more expensive costumes in each act. I mean, Bette Davis didn't mind playing unglamorous characters if she liked the role -- I'm not so sure about SJP, who has Carrie Bradshaw's almost Hyacinth Bucket-ian social and expected audience "keeping up appearances" to uphold. |
