| Anyone can fire anyone for any reason except a bad reason (e.g., based on discrimination, exercising their labor rights, etc.) as long as they are prepared to pay and potentially take flak. (Recall the Great Comet debacle.) Moreover, at this stage, there is nothing signed with Equity, and probably no formal agreement beyond what would be characterized as a memorandum of understanding with her agent. (I think one of the greatest surprises in the theatre is how much happens on every level without pre-signing of agreements.) All of that said, as I believe I wrote previously, no one is going to be fired, no one is going to sue anyone. If MTC wants her gone, they will work it out. No one wants an unwanted relationship from the get-go in the theatre. |
