I am not positive but I would be surprised. This is especially true since the show is not scheduled for over 6 months from now. I expect there is a memorandum (which today likely means an email exchange) and I also would think that in the MTC context, there was not a lot negotiable. Sometimes there might be claims based on costs associated with reliance on an understanding, but here again 6 months out it is unlikely. I agree "fired" would not be used in a technical sense (assuming there was no contract), and I would be more likely to use the word "canned."
