Dictionary or no dictionary, "cancel" in this context is a radical right Republican meme with which I very much do not think we are "stuck." Other than to point out why it should not be used, I agree people should not use it (unless, of course, they like the association it carries).

FWIW, I do not agree with Merriam-Webster's definition in this case and I do not find that source especially strong on words of currency in general.
