I think the problem is that Cosby's deposition admits guilt and confirms his accuser's story. So while the decision was correct legally, to describe his sentence as an injustice is likely to upset people (because Cosby has admitted guilty actions).
And because part of Rashad's brand is integrity and dignity, this bites back at her harder than other actresses who do not have a similar personal profile. When you have a strong reputation for being moral, being perceived as immoral is doubly damaging. Someone with a less sterling rep might just elicit an eye-roll. Rashad elicits anger.
Firing her would also look bad. So my guess is Rashad will be asked privatley to withdraw from the production on her own.
Unfortunately, sexual assault is rampant and a large segment of the potential audience will have strong personal feelings about Rashad's statement.
