An actor has a right to perform the contracted role. Paying the salary does not alter that. (If it were not paid, that of course would be its own breach of the contract.) So far as I recall (and no I have not researched it) Goodman was terminated, presumably in accordance with the agreement. As described in the article you linked, Oak was not terminated in accordance with his contract.
