I haven't read this whole thread, so forgive me if I'm being repetitive. (Just move on if I'm repetitive.) BUT I remember (I don't know how many years ago, but I'm sure it was at least 20 years--time flies) when a Jules Pfeiffer play that transferred from off-Broadway with good reviews replaced virtually the whole cast with "names" because they weren't selling tickets. Lynn Redgrave was one of the replacements. It HAS happened.
