I would suggest that often (not always) criticism of a score is political, in the broadest sense, rather than aesthetically informed. The critic normally reviews reputation, not actual music and lyrics.
Ridiculous. People know what they like, and critique accordingly. It isn't always what I like, but that's what makes a horse race. |
