Actually, it was Louis Jourdan who repeatedly sang (or talk-sang) that, to Chevalier's chagrin in "Gigi". :) "1776" does have much longer book scenes in ratio to its songs. I enjoy the show, but realize that if you're not into U.S. history or politics, it might not be to everyone's taste.
