I didn't see it at Goodspeed. I saw it on Broadway. But according to Ovrutr, it ran at Goodspeed in July and August 1980 with Hulce, although Eric Weitz is listed as a replacement. There's a story there, I'm sure. Now that you mention it, I remember the David Cassidy tour. I wonder why he didn't come to New York with it. Was he otherwise engaged? Did someone decide Osmond was a bigger star? It ended in tears, anyway. Interestingly, Little Johnny Jones was directed by Gerald Gutierrez, who did have a minor New York success with the Goodspeed revival of The Most Happy Fella -- the two-piano version.
