| At the moment the UK rules (which are probably going to change in the next couple of weeks) are that if you have come into close contact with someone who tests positive then you have to isolate for ten days. Close contact is defined as: face-to-face contact including being coughed on or having a face-to-face conversation within one metre; been within one metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact; been within 2 metres of someone for more than 15 minutes (either as a one-off contact, or added up together over one day). It's likely that the cast member who has tested positive will have been in close contact with quite a large number of the rest of that cast, so the producers had no alternative but to close down - even if the remainder of the cast tested negative. Also, although in the UK 64% of all adults are fully vaccinated and 86% have had one dose (one of the highest in the world), because the roll out has been largely based on age, I'd guess that quite a lot of the younger members of the cast have only received the first dose, so they are more vulnerable to the new delta strain than those who have been double dosed. |
