| Ha, I never thought of it that way. For whatever reason, I've never had a problem with John singing those lyrics to that tune, probably because the great William Daniels manages to fully communicate Adams' frustration even while singing an up-tune. But I've always had a problem with Abigail singing THOSE lyrics to the same tune, probably because Virginia Vestoff certainly doesn't sound upset while singing about the serious illnesses she and her children are suffering -- which is another reason why I think that section of the song is incredibly odd and very off-putting. |
