| It’s very curious that it has not announced a return date at broadway. There must be some gossip about this As for other theaters: Marquis—is Once Upon anOne More time going here? There a statement on this board that it was looking for a different theater. With different tryout town, maybe the broadway house is changing. Hudson—utopia to st James opened this theater for fall (plaza suite in spring) Lyceum—. Sing street hasn’t announced a return. Cort—closed for construction and refurbish. Palace—when will that be completed. It was scheduled for 2022 but I assume delays in construction during covid move this to 2023. |

| I have a friend who works in the production. They were told they will reopen in November but no official announcement yet. | |

| Every show does not have to hurry to reopen (and IMO it is prudent no to, but that's another matter). In addition to what others have said (finances and Rudin, etc) it should be noted that the remaining producers are also the remaining producers on MM and might not think their two big revivals need to be drawing focus from one another. Or, at some point, award nominations etc. | |

| When it comes to eventual award nominations, "West Side Story" already had its official opening. So the season for its awards is already a done deal. Right? It's not like producers could choose to keep it on ice for another year, then expect it to compete for Tonys later and pretend they weren't already open. (I guess stranger things have happened, but that would be among the weirdest in in Tony history.) |

| my recollection (and I have not checked it) is that it opened after the cut off date for the Tonys this year, and that such shows would be eligible in the following year. In other words, it would be like a show that opened after the "normal" cutoff (e.g., in May, June, etc.) | |

| Right, so it missed the cutoff for "last year" (the "Slave Play" season I'll call it, just because I'm getting confused with the numbers at this point.) It's eligible in this current season, which is the same one as "The Music Man." Right? | |

| Well, the cutoff was retroactively set to the day before WSS had opened. But yes, WSS and GFNC are part of "this" season, which will run from 2/20/20 to (presumably) the last week of April 2022. |

| You're right. The Tony cutoff was Feb. 19, 2020. ''West Side Story'' opened on Feb. 20. Even though the Broadway shutdown happened March 12, it was determined that not enough of the Tony voters would've had a chance to see it. ''West Side Story'' caught a bad break. It was originally set to open Feb. 6. Its debut was delayed due to Isaac Powell's knee injury in December. Had it opened Feb. 6, maybe it might've made the 2019-20 cutoff and been the only Tony-eligible Musical Revival. (And Best Actor in a Musical would've been a head-to-head showdown between Powell and Aaron Tveit, instead of a one-man race for Tveit.) |

|
| So that his show wouldn’t qualify. I could be completely wrong, but the feb 19 date wasn’t announced until august so I think there was a lot of back room politicking on that date and I assume rudin was part of those discussions. | |

|
| It's a rather random date to have picked if not. And yet it's probably true that significant numbers of nominators and voters hadn't seen it yet. (Voters, at least.) Saying January 31 would have been less obviously "we're carving out WSS because Rudin told us to", though. And yet it's hard to see how it was really a plus for him. |

|
| I doubt that tony committee would have just allowed one show in the category. I think acting is a little different with Tveit. I think revival would be combined so that WSS would have taken the Frankie and Johnny slot. Betrayal and soldiers play got solid reviews. | |

|
| I agree. If ''West Side Story'' were eligible, the Tonys would've reverted to a single revival category, encompassing plays and musicals. After all, that's how it was from 1977 to 1993. The Tonys only began have separate Best Play Revival and Best Musical Revival prizes in 1994. |

| I just assumed that the new season starts sept 2, but I don’t think north county will have another opening date so it’s original date in early 2020 counts for this current season. WWS would probably be the same even if they delayed starting in 2023. | |

| It would qualify for what ever season it opened during a Tony award period. I doubt lead male in WSS could beat jackman unless he is terrible. MM will probably nearly sold out for run son it doesn’t need the tony revival—WSS might have cooled in sales by June and could use the boost. |

| It's hard to imagine that Jackman would be anything but terrific as Hill. It'll be a challenge for Isaac Powell or Rob McClure, etc., to win that Tony. | |

| Shows are selling well. I doubt the weisslers would fund waitress if shows weren’t selling well. Although Chicago is only a 3 day a week performance schedule (5-6 shows) this fall. Seems like if tickets were selling that well they would add performances to Chicago first. | |

| I would not assume that. There are other reasons including grants, loans, tax credits, etc. It's a complicated bit of navigation. | |
