You're right. The Tony cutoff was Feb. 19, 2020. ''West Side Story'' opened on Feb. 20.

Even though the Broadway shutdown happened March 12, it was determined that not enough of the Tony voters would've had a chance to see it.

''West Side Story'' caught a bad break. It was originally set to open Feb. 6. Its debut was delayed due to Isaac Powell's knee injury in December.

Had it opened Feb. 6, maybe it might've made the 2019-20 cutoff and been the only Tony-eligible Musical Revival.

(And Best Actor in a Musical would've been a head-to-head showdown between Powell and Aaron Tveit, instead of a one-man race for Tveit.)
