I'm glad he's still with us and experiencing a long life.

I was fortunate enough to see him in the tour of Crazy for You and the Encores production of 70, Girls, 70.

At the Shubert Theatre in Chicago, twice I saw Carleton Carpenter as Cornelius Hackl in the first national tour of Hello, Dolly! starring Carol Channing. First time I was with my family. I have the Shubert Playbill with ticket stub and souvenir program in my enormous theatrical memorabilia collection. Colorful and fun production with a wonderful cast! Second time I was sitting up in the stage right flies via a friend of the family with strong theatrical connections. This was at Carol's 1000th performance. At curtain call Carol was given a huge heart with 1000 red roses. Fond memories!

Saw him in Bye Bye Birdie with Pat Finley at the Northland Playhouse in Southfield MI in 1962 (?) She went on to play Twinks Tvett on a memorable episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I saw him as Linus in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" in 1988, when he would have been 62 years old! Yeah, it was a strange production that featured actors in their 50s and 60s playing the roles, with Marcia Wallace being the "baby" in the cast at age 42. The other cast members were Larry Hovis, Billy Barnes, Jack Fletcher, and Jo Anne Worley.
