| BRYANT PARK MOVIE NIGHTS RETURNS MONDAY AND TUESDAY EVENINGS AT SUNSET STARTING MONDAY, AUGUST 23 BRYANT PARK ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF THE ICONIC MOVIE SERIES UNDER THE STARS THIS SUMMER PRESENTED BY VERIZON LINE UP WILL INCLUDE “MOULIN ROUGE!,” “THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA” AND “MRS. DOUBTFIRE” WITH SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTS SEASON TO KICK OFF WITH “CLUELESS” SELECTED BY NEW YORK MAGAZINE SUBSCRIBERS New York, NY – Bryant Park has announced the partial film lineup in its iconic Bryant Park Movie Nights series, which will be returning this summer after being paused due to the pandemic. Entering the 27th season, the series is a welcome return to outdoor events in New York City. Due to popular demand, Bryant Park Movie Nights will run on Monday and, for the first time, Tuesday evenings, from August 23rd through September 28th on the Bryant Park lawn. All films begin at sunset, with the lawn open at 5pm for picnicking. The lineup will include screenings of three films that currently have productions returning to Broadway this fall. MOULIN ROUGE! starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman will screen on Tuesday, September 14th; The Phantom of the Opera, the film version of the longest-running show in Broadway history,starring Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson will screen on Monday, September 27th; Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams and Sally Field will screen on Tuesday, September 28th. These events will include special surprise guest appearances and be part of a first of its kind Bryant Park Broadway to Film series. The full Bryant Park Movie Nights lineup will be announced at a later date. New York Magazine subscribers had the chance to vote for a film to kick off Bryant Park Movie Nights on August 23rd and have selected the fan-favorite, “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd. "We are thrilled to welcome back the beloved Bryant Park Movie Nights with a renewed appreciation for community. There really is nothing like watching a film on a big screen under the stars with thousands of new friends,” said Dan Biederman, President of Bryant Park Corporation. Ten movies, selected in collaboration with New York Magazine’s entertainment site Vulture, will be shown this summer on the big screen. Bryant Park Movie Nights have become an annual summer ritual for thousands of New Yorkers. Past films have included The Breakfast Club, Goodfellas, Jurassic Park, A League of Their Own, Little Miss Sunshine, Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Dirty Dancing, Ghostbusters and Top Gun. This event is free to the public. As New York State and City safety guidelines for public gatherings quickly change in response to the ongoing success of NYC's COVID-19 vaccination program, Bryant Park continues to reassess its on-site protocols for upcoming shows with the intention of safely accommodating as many attendees as possible. Bryant Park is situated behind the New York Public Library in Midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues. About Bryant Park Bryant Park Corporation (BPC) is a not-for-profit, private management company founded in 1980 to renovate and operate Bryant Park in New York City. It was established by Daniel A. Biederman and Andrew Heiskell, with support from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. BPC was formed to restore historic Bryant Park, which had suffered a severe decline in conditions in the 1970s. A 15-year agreement was signed in 1988, entrusting management and improvements to BPC. The park reopened in 1992 after four years of renovation with a budget six times the level under prior city management. It is the largest effort in the nation to apply private management backed by private funding to a public park, and it has been a success with public, press, and nearby institutions. BPC shares its management team with the 34th Street Partnership. The two companies share a management philosophy. |

| We'd sneak in "doctored Snapples" and enjoy "All About Eve", "Mildred Pierce", "Cabaret", etc. Now it's "Clueless." Oh well. |

| "Cabaret" has Liza but "Clueless" is a better movie by far than "Cabaret". I could happily never see the rest of the lineup again. But as Barry Diller says, movies are dead, and he should know because he got the city to build an island made out of high heels in the Hudson River for him. | |

| I don't hate Fosse's "Cabaret" the way Christopher Isherwood did, I just don't think it's a very good film. Fosse was a genius of the American stage but unfocused as a filmmaker. I think part of the problem with Fosse's films is that he entered the world of movie making when the studio system was dying and the French and Italian New Wave was at the peak of its influence. So that meant that Fosse had a great deal of freedom with what to do with camera, lighting and cutting but I think he would have better benefitted from the more conservative but more coherant studio technician style... to give his films a stronger internal spine. "Clueless" on the other hand uses the feature film format to tell a very coherant story. Cher Howowitz is convinced that her view of the world is the only one. Because Cher acts cluelessly on that assumption, it causes her view of the world to start to crack. Through the cracks, Cher starts to realize other people and their views make up the world. And that realization allows her to triumph in love. That's basically the Jane Austen story the film is adapted from. But it seems to me also to be a very American story and somewhat dark under its silly surface as many of us never reach Cher's realization. |

| I can't imagine bothering to make doctored Snapples to go to Bryant Park to see...."Clueless". There's so many other films...... They've NEVER shown "New York, New York", for example. I would ship the doctored Snapples via Fed Ex for that. |
