"Hangmen" to resume on Broadway? They got an SBA Shuttered Venue Operators Grant
Posted by: BillyD 11:14 am EDT 07/13/21

An incredible play, cast and direction. Please, come back.

From Broadway News: "Hangmen" ... was one of the earliest productions to announce it would not reopen. … The play, which was capitalized for up to $4.75 million, received a grant of close to $3.5 million from the Small Business Administration. Producers did not respond to a request for comment.

While the grant funding can be used to cover expenses dating back to March 2020, the SBA stipulates in its application checklist that shuttered entities must include a statement of need that discloses its “the intent to reopen with an estimated reopening date.”

I hope so. I saw the off Broadway mounting twice. I was thinking that the Broadway cast would have had their work cut out trying to match the first New York cast. I would have gone in with an open mind. I am a particular fan of Reece Shearsmtih who got to deliver a few of the funniest lines and moments in this piece.

I love Martin McDonagh’s plays part from the dreadful “A very very very dark matter” but everyone is allowed one or two duds. My favorite is Pillowman
