Interesting article by Pete Hammond, one of the awards gurus, who notes that the Hamilton actors are getting nominated for the exact same performance six of them got Tony nominations for. Since this is essentially a filmed version of the stage production, these performances weren't really adapted or modified for the screen. So should they be eligible for a screen award?
He notes, "What’s to keep every big show on Broadway from doing the same thing going forward — not adapting their shows for TV but simply shooting it while everyone’s still in costume?"
