When the Ann Miller/Mickey Rooney SUGAR BABIES had its pre-Broadway tryout in San Francisco, there was a roller skating number which the reviewers singled out as being problematic. The number featured the female ensemble; the leads were not on skates. It was removed from the show within days of opening night.
