| It’s quite feasible and yes, admirable that choreographer Warren Carlyle wants to infuse something new and different into this revival. Why not a tap dance inserted where no one has seen it before in any production of MUSIC MAN? It could be, as Jo pointed out, related to “Rock Island” or perhaps “Sadder But Wiser Girl,” “Marian the Librarian,” or the more likely “Gary, Indiana” or especially “Shipoopi.” Why revive a show—even a classic— unless new elements are introduced to offer a fresh outlook or speak to a different generation? |
