| Now that it's finished I assume there's some kind of legal requirement to make those available to us (or at least provide something similar) | |

| https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039530654-What-can-Kickstarter-do-when-a-creator-does-not-fulfill-their-project-rewards- Basically there is nothing you can do if the creator does not fulfill the project rewards. And in this case since the creator is deceased, the threat of not being allowed to do another campaign is useless. Note that per https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005126914-What-if-something-goes-wrong-after-a-project-is-successfully-funded- "rewards are not guaranteed." . |

| Depends on what you're looking at I guess. The terms that were in place when the Kickstarter was launched do say, "Project Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any Backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill." https://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use/oct2012 Also from Kickstarter's website (in 2012): Is a creator legally obligated to fulfill the promises of their project? Yes. Kickstarter's Terms of Use require creators to fulfill all rewards of their project or refund any backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill. (This is what creators see before they launch.) We crafted these terms to create a legal requirement for creators to follow through on their projects, and to give backers a recourse if they don't. We hope that backers will consider using this provision only in cases where they feel that a creator has not made a good faith effort to complete the project and fulfill. https://www.kickstarter.com/blog/accountability-on-kickstarter So it seems over the years Kickstarter has adjusted their terms of service to give creators more flexibility when things go wrong. But with Rick's death I imagine you're right there's not much recourse unless someone wants to sue his estate (which I assume is long since settled) or the production company behind the documentary (which obviously wouldn't be worth it for a myriad of reasons). Anyway, I'm just glad to see the finished product, though I do feel bad for the people who gave at the highest tier to get their names in the credits and such. |

| Did anyone at the time of his death reach out to his estate and/or the production company regarding the Kickstarter rewards? | |

| Right -- because what better time to "reach out and ask for your free stuff" than when the body is barely cold! | |

| These were NOT "free" stuff. FREE is getting something for nothing. The rewards were promised for the pledges aka investments in this project. People paid MONEY for them. Hardly "free". |

| That's part of what an estate's executor does. And, yes, you should put in a claim sooner rather than later. | |

| I'm not sure about the Kickstarter money, but of course, that was initiated by Rick McKay and he died in 2018. I'll see if I can find anything out. What were the perks supposed to be? |

| I wouldn't hold much hope for those personal messages, but if you DO get one, be sure to let us know! | |
