| Saw him on Broadway and was appalled at the homophobic jokes he was using in his act as late as the 1990s! Then he became a big Trump lover who tried to justify his racism as well. As Moms Mabley used to say (which was appropriated by Craig Russell in his act, impersonating Bette Davis), "I was always taught never to say anything about the dead unless it’s good. He’s dead. Good!” | |

| Comedians and satirists are supposed to push the boundaries of what's tasteful and nice. Could Lenny Bruce even exist in today's politically correct cancel culture? What actual harm did Jackie Mason do to gays and people of color, for the hate that's being leveled against him now? | |

| "What actual harm did Jackie Mason do to gays and people of color, for the hate that's being leveled against him now?" Just one example: He told jokes making fun of "faygelahs" [his word, not mine, and I have no idea how to spell it] for being who they were. A gay kid's parents went to see his show and came home and told those jokes to the kid's aunts and uncles at the Sunday barbecue. Everyone laughed uproariously. The gay kid killed himself. Is that enough actual harm for you? If so, consider donating at the link. |

| He sold out shows and made people laugh. Something not everyone can do. | |

| The obits I've seen for Mason have been pretty celebratory, mostly ignoring his controversies with racial (and homophobic) comments. They did recall how playing Broadway revived this Borscht Belt comic's career and earned him a special Tony Award in 1987. On Tony night, he joked: ''I feel like Ronald Reagan tonight. He was an actor all his life, knew nothing about politics and became president of the United States. I’m an ex-rabbi who knew nothing about acting and I’m getting a Tony Award.” Mason, who did about a half-dozen shows on the Great White Way, once claimed: ''Now I am the biggest hit to ever do Broadway.'' |

| I had dinner with him one night. He was a horrible man: prejudiced, homophobic, etc. He was so horrible that my husband and I walked out. | |
