| Comedians and satirists are supposed to push the boundaries of what's tasteful and nice. Could Lenny Bruce even exist in today's politically correct cancel culture? What actual harm did Jackie Mason do to gays and people of color, for the hate that's being leveled against him now? | |

| Could Lenny Bruce even exist in today's politically correct cancel culture? Lenny Bruce existed when there was an actual 'cancel culture'—he was repeatedly arrested and finally convicted for obscenity. Could he exist in today's made-up 'cancel culture'? Hell, yes. Today the phrase is a conservative buzzword in a made-up culture war. People voting with their feet (through protests and boycotts) and wallets (by petitioning advertisers) is a far, far cry from bringing in the police. And while conservatives claim to hate 'cancel culture' as an example of woke 'political correctness'—as you just did—they are usually the first to embrace it. Let's not forget Republicans frothing at the mouth over Julius Caesar in the Park, and their celebration when Delta Air Lines and Bank of America acquiesced to their demands to withdrew funding. |

| "What actual harm did Jackie Mason do to gays and people of color, for the hate that's being leveled against him now?" Just one example: He told jokes making fun of "faygelahs" [his word, not mine, and I have no idea how to spell it] for being who they were. A gay kid's parents went to see his show and came home and told those jokes to the kid's aunts and uncles at the Sunday barbecue. Everyone laughed uproariously. The gay kid killed himself. Is that enough actual harm for you? If so, consider donating at the link. |

| Sorry for the kid. However I sat front row with my partner and my parents who were in their late 70's I'm thinking. Mason remarked to me and my partner about being gay, I don't think we're that obvious, but Joan Rivers did the same lol, anyways I don't recall the exact comment, it was in jest, and then after intermission he came out and immediately started off on how he meant no harm to us. Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Jackie Mason, Lenny Bruce and many others are a lost generation. | |

| He sold out shows and made people laugh. Something not everyone can do. | |
