Look, everybody gets to decide how cautious they want to remain, but please don't rely on reasons that are personal to support general fear mongering. Covid is now a pandemic of the unvaccinated. That's a huge issue for public health officials but for the vaccinated public -- and that includes the overwhelming majority of folks who might come to this outdoor event. In the zipcode that includes the block party, 99.9% of people have at least their first shot. The likelihood of anything more than a cold or flu symptom on a breakthrough infection is microscopic, and I happen to know for a fact (unless you fibbed in posts) that you brazenly came to NYC during cold and flu season without giving it any thought. Even unvaccinated people are not getting infected in outdoor scenarios like this but as I said, make your own choices. Finally, please note that there is no indication that the person on Merry Wives who tested positive contracted the infection at the theatre. For all we know, they have have gotten it while playing naked twister which, except in SF apparently, is usually done indoors.
