I expect they are trying to replicate the style of most stage-to-film adaptations of musicals made from the 1940's to the 1960's before the MTV/music video influence began to infect the movie musical and assume that the audience would get bored if a shot lasted more than three seconds. It was bright and clean and you could actually watch the dances as the choreographer had envisioned them, as opposed to the director, editor or D.O.P.. |
