I wasn’t gonna miss my chance to sing happy birthday to Tony. Got a rather last minute seat that wasn’t available earlier in the day. To say it was thrilling is an understatement. I was nervous because of his diagnosis that it would be …unfortunate. But he was absolutely present and thrilling. Didn’t talk much, which isn’t surprising given the diagnosis. I’ve seen him several times before. There has always been more patter and chatter. Last night, very, very little. But dude is 95. And living with Alzheimer’s. I’ll take what we can get. And what we got was a polished and present performer delivering the goods to New York City and Radio City Music Hall.
She was terrific. But he was the show.
An unforgettable night. |
