No need for us to debate a tangential point like "definitive." You have your opinion and I have my intention so let's just leave it at that.

The question about pre-show work has several aspects from my perspective. First, I don't think the amount of work is as quantifiable as you seem to. Second, we don't set things like call times (or much of anything else in the theatre) based on what happens in perfect cases. The IATSE call time is not punitive, but to account for the fact that sometimes something happens that requires more time. (You obviously know that; more than I do.) And third, there is a matter of sequencing. You obviously also know that if there are actors on the stage (and the fight call is the most salient example because safety is not some theoretical concern) any IATSE work that's required after it has to be after it, even if in only takes a few minutes to accomplish. I also don't know why this discussion is needed but here we are.

Finally, I'd prefer if you are not a stranger here. I think you and your colleagues who post here bring a very valuable perspective. IATSE has its detractors here; most of them don't know what they are talking about.
