Excellent points.
I recently watched an old clip of Angela Lansbury discussing how she had to learn how to carry a big musical (Mame) and how hard that achievement was.
I think Beanie has the same task in front of her. I thought she was delightful in Hello Dolly, but Funny Girl is heavy lifting. I'm not certain she has the kind of high voltage star power that seems essential to the stage role. I'd prefer to see her in a film adaptation or an expanded Netflix version. |
