But Billy Porter is a STAR and elevated the role to another level that is probably not at all on the page.
It's funny you should say that, because the 2 times I've seen the show - the tour in Boston with Kyle Taylor Parker, and the London televised production with Matt Henry - and both times I did feel the role was made as important - if not moreso - than Charlie. I'm not saying there aren't gaps in Lola's story that would be welcome, but neither did I get the feeling that Lola is only a "featured role in [Charlie's] story." |
