The link didn’t work for me but I assume the author stated that steaming is here to stay. I agree with you that it isn’t. Last year this time I was watching 2-3 shows a week and was being selective. I see only a 3 a month and that isn’t even being selective. Plus this fall, I see very few local theaters offering streaming with live performance. I think it was a good run during covid but doesn’t seem to be that successful. The zoom events show the number of people logged in and it is usually in the hundreds. There are probably more than one watching in a number of users but that is only 1 performance for many theaters. Not really sustainable financially once costs of filming are considered.

agree however my comments about streaming were in reaction to the post and in the context of Broadway. The post suggested that I was wrong that producers are not flocking to streaming. I get that there are folks eager for all Broadway shows to be streamed, but that has not happened and I believe that the experiments of the Fall of 2021 will put the kibosh on notions of its economic viability. Your perspective is interesting because you were certainly an eager consumer over the last 18 months.

On this site there is little discussion on streamed events

This is a theater site and there are very few posts on any streaming events. And some streaming last for days and are of highest quality like Hershey fielders shows and Irish rep. So it’s not like it’s one time shot and if missed there’s no point in posting. Play per view get nothing and there’s are up for 3 days. When I post I rarely get a response. Even LCT had only a few comments on the wolves and Mary seacole. If this site can’t get excited about streaming when there is no live theater, there is little chance when live theater is back.

My sense, and it may be projecting my own situation, is that people were interested in streaming for a while, until say June '20, and then started to lose interest. Ironically that's when some of the streaming stuff started to get more organized. To my recollection, Michael Urie's zoom show was the heyday of streaming.

Early stuff turned viewers off when stuff improved.

I suspect a good number of people on this site get comp tickets to a lot of live theater so playing for streaming doesn’t make sense to them.
