| For me, in all of the 118 pages of the script, there's only one true "laugh out loud" moment, and that's the cue line for "What Causes That" when the real Zangler, standing next to Bobby dressed as him, says "I'm beside myself!" Otherwise, I have to confess that I would have liked it much more as a Gershwin revue, without relying on the rehashed Lend Me a Tenor component (which was nowhere to be found in the original Girl Crazy at all). The musical arrangements are great, but the book just keeps slowing the show down IMO. |
