So...I've listened to it once through and was stunned at the poor quality of the lyrics. This tends to be a problem with ALW's scores, but I had expected much more from Zippel. Once I listened to it and got the concept and story-line, I really wasn't compelled to give it another listen. After reading your post, though, I started it again in the car today and found myself just skipping to those catchy tunes of "Bad Cinderella" and "I Know I Have a Heart."
I'm betting a lot relies on the staging and production values, but this is probably not a cast album that I will be going back to frequently. |
