Golda's Balcony/Tovah Feldshuh

I was just on IBDB and noticed that there is no standby listed for Tovah Feldshuh, no replacements, and no note of the production going on hiatus during the run. So she really did 507 performances (including previews), 8 shows a week, in the span of 15 months, with no break? That's incredible dedication.

I know Marian Seldes famously signed in for all 1,799 performances of Deathtrap. Are there any other extraordinary feats of never missing a show in a long run? Ethel Merman maybe?

Also, does AEA require an understudy/standby no matter what or can the producers opt out?
